AlphaPlus is delighted to announce the appointment of John Kerr to the AlphaPlus Board of Directors as non-executive Chair.

Many people who work for and with AlphaPlus will already know John through his work on the Welsh National Assessments project, where he is Project Director for the operational aspects of delivery.

John Kerr, formerly CEO of the Edexcel Foundation, the UK largest awarding body, specialises in providing educational consultancy across a wide range of Higher Education, Technical Training and Schools. His current projects include advising the Welsh government, advising for 8 UK Universities on partnerships in South Asia, and qualification and curriculum support for a Singaporean education group. John trained as a lawyer and has held legal positions with the London Stock Exchange and the Financial Services Authority. After leaving Edexcel John was a director of the Edge Foundation and commissioned three city academies and the Edge Hotel School. John is currently strategy consultant in education for a number of government and private education bodies both within UK and internationally, and holds a number of directorships in private education companies specialising in utilising technology in education.

A note from John:

I am delighted to take up the position of Chair at AlphaPlus after John Hamer’s retirement, and wish to thank John for his hard work and wise counsel over the years. He will be sorely missed by all the team.

Having worked with the AlphaPlus team for a number of years on a range of projects, I have been impressed by the professionalism and expertise exhibited and believe there is a real need for the services offered by AlphaPlus in education projects at home and abroad. I’m looking forward to working with the AlphaPlus team in this exciting new phase of its development.

John Kerr will replace John Hamer, who has recently stepped down after almost 20 years at AlphaPlus.
