AlphaPlus is seeking to establish a pool of freelance editorial associates.

The work will involve editing and/or proof-reading a range of documents generated by AlphaPlus for its clients, and quality assuring the work of other editors/proof-readers.

The scope of the work will be indicated in individual work schedules but will normally involve the review of content for proper spelling, punctuation, usage and syntax, compliance with house-style and ensuring the language, structure and tone, including considerations of cultural awareness, are appropriate. 

Essential criteria include:

• Demonstrable experience of similar work
• Own laptop and good broadband service
• Confident ICT user, especially Microsoft Office 365
• Awareness of data security protocols and observance at all times of confidentiality and security of records
• Excellent written English spelling, grammar and communication skills
• Attention to detail and ability to identify mistakes
• Excellent time management skills

Assignment of work

Editorial associates will be required to sign up to AlphaPlus’ database of associates if not already registered as an AlphaPlus associate.

Assignment to a project will be made as the project need arises, by a brief online interview and discussion to ensure a good match to the particular project requirements.  Editors may be requested to attend an online briefing before commencing a particular assignment.  It is possible that notification and deadlines will be short in length due to the nature of the demand.  Flexibility to accommodate different time zones as required might be useful.

Work will be allocated on an ad hoc basis and there is no obligation upon AlphaPlus to supply work to the associate.

Rate of pay

The rate of pay will vary according to the type of project.
