AlphaPlus is an education service business specialising in standards, assessment and certification. We help our clients design, develop, deploy and evaluate qualifications and their underpinning assessments. Our work spans the public and private sectors, schools, colleges, vocational and professional learning. Around half our work is overseas. We have a core team of 39 staff primarily based in our Manchester head office, and in addition draw upon a team of approximately 400 associates.
This is a newly-created position within the company, to support us in delivering our people-related strategy consistently, fairly and to a high standard, through ensuring adherence to policies and processes and employment law and working across the company on HR-related matters. As such, it presents an excellent opportunity for the right person to shape and influence the function within the company. The HR manager will report to the director responsible for HR and provide a comprehensive HR service across the company.
The successful candidate will have some general experience in HR management. Experience within the education, training or assessment sector would be useful but not essential.
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- a commitment to proactively ensuring equality, diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace.
- excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen and quickly summarise key points.
- a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- excellent interpersonal skills.
- integrity, underpinned by sound judgement, maintaining absolute confidentiality where appropriate.
Essential criteria include:
- a good honours degree or equivalent.
- reasonable fluency with MS Office applications.
- an aptitude for adapting to new software and digital services.
AlphaPlus is committed to ongoing learning and investment in its employees. The successful candidate will be provided with the opportunity and support to aim for achieving the CIPD qualification at level 3 or above, if not already achieved.
The role is part-time with flexibility around days worked, and is Manchester-based. The company has been operating a Covid hybrid working policy (two days per week minimum in the office, and three days working at home for full-time staff) and is presently operating a working from home policy where this is possible, following the recent update of the related guidance. As the pandemic hopefully recedes, it is likely that we will have more time in the office, but substantial flexibility and hybrid working will remain our policy and approach.
