Salary: £23,000 – £33,000 depending on experience and qualifications
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our educational research team as statistician, to support a range of research and evaluation projects.
AlphaPlus is an education service business specialising in standards, assessment and certification. We help our clients design, develop, deploy and evaluate qualifications and their underpinning assessments. Our work spans the public and private sectors, schools, colleges, vocational and professional learning. Around half our work is overseas. We have a core team of 39 staff primarily based in our Manchester head office, and in addition draw upon a team of approximately 400 associates.
The statistician will be a specialist in the technical area of statistics or quantitative research, psychometrics or data science who will work within the research team to provide high quality statistical outputs contributing to AlphaPlus educational research and consultancy services.
This opportunity will suit recent graduates or postgraduates holding a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree which has at least a significant component in statistics. Experience coding statistical analyses (in R, SAS, SPSS or similar software) is essential, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with external and internal customers. Some project management skills and knowledge of classical test theory, item response theory, DIF analysis, and regression analysis techniques are desirable, as is working experience as a statistician/junior analyst at a research body (ideally in education).
The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, and is Manchester-based. The company is currently operating a Covid hybrid working policy (two days a week minimum in the office, and three days working at home). As the pandemic hopefully recedes, it is likely that we will have more time in the office, but substantial flexibility and hybrid working will remain our policy and approach.
Benefits include enhanced terms and conditions, a contributory pension scheme and a generous bonus scheme, currently averaging 10% per annum.
To apply, please send the completed application form together with a CV and covering statement setting out how you meet the criteria for this role, to by noon on Monday 10 January 2022. The CV and covering statement comprise important elements of the selection process. Incomplete applications will be returned to the applicant for completion.
AlphaPlus is committed to providing equal opportunities to all and has an inclusive approach to recruitment, selection and employment.
