Scottish National Standardised Assessments (SNSA) Service Delivery Team

AlphaPlus is delighted to announce that we will be working with the Scottish Government to deliver Scotland’s two existing national standardised assessment systems – the Scottish National Standardised Assessments (SNSA) and their Gaelic Medium counterpart, Measaidhean Coitcheann Nàiseanta airson foghlam tron Ghàidhlig (MCNG).  These standardised assessments support the National Improvement Framework (NIF) for Scottish Education, and provide information to teachers to support their judgements about students’ progress, and inform actions to improve attainment and wider outcomes for every child in Scotland.

To support this work AlphaPlus is establishing a service delivery team and is pleased to offer the following opportunities.

NSA DEPUTY SERVICE DELIVERY MANAGER (full-time)

Salary: £38,000 – £42,000 depending on qualifications and experience

The postholder will support the Service Delivery Manager (SDM) to provide an effective Service Delivery function on the Scottish National Standardised Assessments (NSA) project, working with colleagues across the consortium and external stakeholders (schools, Scottish Government, Local Authorities).

The role involves:

  • Establishing and managing the Service Delivery (SD) function across multiple project strands (helpdesk, training, reporting)
  • Managing the service delivery function, monitoring usage data, reporting against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Provide regular reports to senior stakeholders (project team, Scottish Government)

Applicants should possess a good first degree and experience of managing customer-facing teams, using CRM / helpdesk software, and reporting.  An understanding of the Gaelic/Scottish education system would be helpful but is not essential.

NSA HELPDESK MANAGER (full time)

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 depending on qualifications and experience

The postholder will manage a bilingual helpdesk (in Scottish Gaelic and English) on the Scottish National Standardised Assessments (SNSA) project, working with colleagues across the consortium and external stakeholders (schools, Scottish Government, Local Authorities).

The role involves:

  • Managing a helpdesk team of between 2 and 8 people to support schools across Scotland on National Standardised Assessments (NSA)
  • Recruiting schools across Scotland to participate in trials of literacy and numeracy materials in both Gaelic and English using established methods and tools
  • Experience in a customer service role, using CRM / helpdesk software

Applicants should possess a good first degree and experience in a customer service role, using CRM / helpdesk software.

The following are desirable but not essential:

  • Ability to speak and read/write Gaelic to a suitable standard to engage via phone and email with Gaelic users of the system as necessary (though the vast majority of interactions are expected to be in English)
  • Experience in public sector education – ideally Gaelic Medium Education (GME) in schools

NSA HELPDESK SUPPORT (full-time)

Salary: £22,000- £25,000 depending on qualifications and experience

Closing date 25 June 2021

There are two vacancies for this role. The postholders will support a helpdesk for schools and Local Authorities in Scotland, working on the Scottish National Standardised Assessments (SNSA) project. This role will work with colleagues across the consortium and external stakeholders (school staff, Local Authorities).

The role involves:

  • Working in a customer-facing role, providing IT and assessment support to schools across Scotland accessing online assessment materials, as part of the National Standardised Assessments (NSA)
  • Working with others to recruit schools across Scotland to participate in trials of literacy and numeracy materials in both Gaelic and English medium
  • Following the trials, provide a standing Service Delivery Helpdesk with ongoing support
  • Providing support across other trialling projects as required

Applicants should possess a good first degree and experience in a customer service role, using CRM / helpdesk software.

The following are desirable but not essential:

  • have an understanding of the Gaelic/Scottish education system
  • Experience in public sector education

NSA GAELIC-MEDIUM EDUCATION (GME) SERVICE DELIVERY SUPPORT (part-time)

Closing date 25 June 2021

This is a flexible part-time role, rates to be negotiated.  The successful candidate will be offered an AlphaPlus associate’s agreement.

The postholder will provide a service delivery support in Gaelic and English on the Scottish National Standardised Assessments (SNSA) project, working with colleagues across the consortium and external stakeholders (schools, Scottish Government, Local Authorities).

The role involves:

  • Speaking and reading/writing Gaelic to a suitable standard to engage via phone and email with Gaelic users of the system
  • Providing proofreading and translation capability to support our use of bilingual materials across the project
  • Having an understanding of the Gaelic/Scottish education system to be able to input to the assessment QA

Applicants should possess a good first degree and experience in public sector education – ideally GME in schools.

For the full time posts, the working days are Monday to Friday, primarily based in our Manchester head office (although Covid means there is currently limited office working), alongside our core team of around 30 staff, and in addition drawing upon a team of approximately 400 associates.

The roles may sometimes require some national travel, working in company and customer offices with the possibility of international travel. Benefits include 25 days’ holiday entitlement plus statutory holidays, a generous annual bonus scheme and pension scheme.
