We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join our assessment development team as Assessment Manager.

AlphaPlus is an education service business specialising in standards, assessment and certification. We help our clients design, develop, deploy and evaluate qualifications and their underpinning assessments. Our work spans the public and private sectors, schools, colleges, vocational and professional learning. Around half our work is overseas.  We have a core team of 27 staff primarily based in our Manchester head office, and in addition draw upon a team of approximately 350 associates.

The vacancy has arisen due to the planned long-term increase in the team size. The postholder will provide high quality assessment outputs as part of AlphaPlus’s assessment design and development services.  They will support the Deputy Director of Assessment in managing AlphaPlus’ assessment design and development services, such as designing assessments to meet customer needs, managing the production, trialling and marking of assessments and training clients on the fundamentals of assessment. They will be able to function independently, leading whole projects or substantial elements of projects and take key decisions concerning the design, development and delivery of assessments.

Eligible applicants will possess:

  • a qualification in assessment design or creation or equivalent experience
  • strong project management skills
  • commercial awareness, able to create opportunities and participate in activities to generate new business 
  • a demonstrable track record of experience in the design, development and delivery of assessments.

The role is full time, Monday to Friday, based in our head office in Castlefield, Manchester.  Normally it will involve national and international travel including some working in company and customer offices.  Under current circumstances the office is closed and we are working from home.  It is envisaged that there will be opportunities for some flexible home working once the office reopens. Benefits include enhanced terms and conditions, a contributory pension scheme and a generous bonus scheme, currently averaging 10% per annum.
