31/8/07 Alpha Plus Golf Day
The 31st of August saw the return of the Alpha Plus Group company golf day. Held at Linlithgow Golf Club, located in the heart of the West Lothian countryside, the day was a big success.
After a short introduction by the MD of Alpha Plus Group, Steve Matthews, the day began.
The pressure on the first tee was heightened by the presence of a number of video cameras, one opperated by tour professional Colin Gillies, all time top money earner on the Scottish Tartan Tour.
Colin played a couple of holes with each group before setting off to the eighth tee where Alpha Plus Group held the 'Charity Beat the Pro'. Each group had donated money to the 'Friends of the Sick Kids' charity in order to take on Colin on the short par 3. A combination of Colins ability and the introduction of refreshments at the previous tee, left Colin un-beaten on the hole at the end of the day.
After a number of refreshment stops along the way, the hard part was over and the party were seated for lunch in the clubhouse.
The prize giving was hosted by Steve Matthews. There were some good scores, some bad scores and some very ugly scores, however, the day saw a number of players post a score of over 30 stableford points.
After the prize giving Alpha Plus Group held a charity auction, again for the 'Friends of the Sick Kids'. Up for auction were a Stephen Gallacher signed print of the 17th hole at Loch Lomond, Golf days for six people at Gleneagles and tickets to the final two days of what proved to be a fantastic conclusion to the Johnny Walker Classic held at Gleneagles.
The result of this auction and donations throughout the day saw the golfers help Alpha Plus Group raise more than £500 for the charity, so thanks again to all of those involved.
